Darren’s love of photography goes back many years. He began at the age of 13, working with manual focus cameras and darkroom chemicals under the tutelage of his older brother, Ken Daveluy, a professional photographer.

Ken would often have Darren at his photo studio, helping to set up lighting and backgrounds, taking test shots and assisting with clients. In their free time, the brothers went on photo excursions where they would capture images of nature and landscapes while Ken taught Darren about both the technical and artistic aspects of photography.

Before long, Darren was helping Ken at weddings, taking candid photographs and helping to set up the formal shots for the wedding album. Along the way, Darren’s own love of photography was beginning to take shape. Though his career priorities didn’t allow him to fully explore his potential as a professional photographer, he maintained a strong interest in the field.

Sadly, Ken Daveluy lost a battle with pancreatic cancer in 2006, shortly after Darren’s relocation to the Lowcountry. While his brother’s passing at the early age of 45 was tragic, it rekindled the love of photography which Ken had fostered in him so many years ago.

His re-dedication to photography led Darren to explore the wondrous landscapes that our great country has to offer. The attention to detail that he exhibits shows in the photographs he produces..

Darren’s work had been on public display and featured in many websites, newspapers and local businesses.
